Our History

Mill Supply Ltd. was started in December of 1987 by Malcolm and Allan Matthews and Earl Burgess as an industrial distribution business. Earl Burgess, along with other early employees, Paul Brown, Sue LeLacheur and Wayne Blackwood still work in the business today.

Our early supplier commitments were from Carborundum abrasives (our first supplier), Stanley Proto hand tools, and Greenfield cutting tools and that is what we opened with. Local company, ABCO Plastics gave us our first order.

By the fall of 1988 it was clear we would be doing some business with cabinetmakers and we started a long and rewarding relationship with Hettich International, a German company that manufactures cabinet hardware. They quickly became our single largest supplier and still are today. We are their longest serving distributor in North America.

In 2001, Malcolm welcomed Paul Brown and Janice Fraser, who were already long standing employees and part of the management team, as shareholders and Vice Presidents. In the spring of 2009 Janice and Paul along with four more employees purchased the remainder of the business from Malcolm upon his retirement.
